Hawaii Day 3

Monday
Most of the island of Kauai is not accessible by your average transportation.  We had to pull out the stops to see all we could.  New favorite mode of transportation: Helicopter!  This very well may have been my favorite part of our trip!

You can see Joleen in there getting buckled in by the man who flipped her off.  Friendly guy. :)
Kelli, Jessica, Annie, and Marie were in the back.
Joleen and I were in the front.
The whole front was pretty much just a window, so we had a pretty stellar view!
This is called the Garden Island for a reason.  Everything was so green and beautiful!

Mount Waialeale is the wettest place on earth.  We never really saw the whole mountain because it was always covered in clouds.  But we went right up to it on the helicopter!
Our pilot, Josh, did an excellent job of giving us an up close and personal tour.
After the helicopter, we went to Bubba's for lunch.  Delicious hamburgers, fries, and onion rings....and lots of random signs.

Then we hit the beach!  We went to Poipu Beach, which was named one of America's Best Beaches by The Travel Channel.

I couldn't believe how clear the water was there!  It was beautiful!

We also made friends with this guy (okay, not really...but he did strike up a conversation with Jessica in the water).  He was using a magnifying class and a welding mask to burn scriptures into wood.
On this day, we also started our quest to find the best shave ice on the island.  We went to two places this day :)
Ono Ono ended up being my favorite!

That helicopter ride looks amazing. I am definitely going to have to try that.

Love the pictures!!! How amazingly beautiful! So I'm excited to show Ben the pics of the guy burning the wood with the magnifying glass. That's one of his favorite hobbies and if he could actually do something constructive and create art...
