iPad

I've only told a couple people this, but I secretly (and not so secretly now) want an iPad.

I feel a little silly admitting it since I was so against them when they were first released.  I just saw it as a glorified iPod touch.  And yes, I still think that's what they are.

But I kind of want one.

I've been wanting a new computer for a few years now.  My current laptop is about 7 years old.  It takes about 30 minutes to turn on.  Once it's on, it takes forever just to pull up a program.  If you try to download something, you'll be there at least an hour (or in the case a couple weeks ago, it never came).  If I accidentally unplug it, it turns off right away.  It also makes sounds equivalent to that of a space shuttle taking off to the moon.

I'd love to go the route of a MacBook, but I feel like I can't justify such an expensive purchase.

What are my current uses of my computer?
-Blogging
-Facebook
-email
-random internet browsing/googling

That's really about it.  Do I need a MacBook for that?

Or could I just get an iPad?

What are your thoughts?  I could use some help here.  I'm easily persuaded.

And let's be honest...I really want to play Angry Birds.

I love MacBooks. Convert over to the Mac you will love it. I don't use my MacBook for more than email, blogging, and online shopping but it is worth it. Pictures, videos, and you time are all enhanced. DO IT!

$1300 for a Macbook so that you can surf the internet? What a waste of money.

Shannon...I'm not sure we can be friends anymore. We obviously haven't hung out lately otherwise you would know of my passion for Android. :)

Costco has the Motorola XOOM for $589 ($10 cheaper than the iPad). You can watch Flash video on it (can't do that on the iPad), surf the internet..AND play angry birds.

I could talk about this all day long...you just opened up a can of worms.

I say go for the iPad baby... they are pretty sweet... but this Android thing that Ryan is talking about sounds pretty cool too. Now I'm at a loss. I have been absolutely no help to you today huh?

I am not very good at debate because it sounds like Ryan has a good point, BUT I LOVE my MacBook!! I will never go back! It was worth the money in my opinion. I do also do a lot with pictures though. On another thought, as long as you work in Alpine School District, the give you a MacBook. I am no help either. :)

Shannon, don't listen to Ryan. Just get the macbook.
If mine hadn't been stolen 2.5 years ago I would have had mine for...6 years (that breaks my heart just thinking about it) and it would've been doing fine.

I've purchased 2 in my life and I'll never go back. $1300 once every...8-10 years, or $589 every couple years...I'm just sayin. No spyware, no bugs, no nothin. It's worth the money.

And who knows...maybe getting a mac would open up a whole new hobby for you...we can talk about this later.

(sorry, Ryan. Don't hate me)

I have to say...I'm posting this from our iPad. Yes, a bigger touch, but it is super fun! IMO, it doesn't replace a laptop (pc or Mac) but it is super portable and simple. Look for a MacBook on ksl....there were tons on there for much less than new. Jake got an iMac a few weeks ago (hence the discount on the iPad) and will never go back. Good luck....do what you want now, someday you'll have to compromise!!
